Tasting Notes

DEDICATED TO THE FOURTH GENERATION

Lou Miranda Estate is dedicating this limited edition wine to the future generations. 2014 was a year of celebration when the fourth generation was born - Peter Leonidas born April 2014 the great grandson of Italian migrants. When founder Francesco Miranda migrated to Australia in 1938, he aspired to give his family the opportunity for a better life. The family have continued his tradition and are a testament to his passion for both wine making and life.

Colour

Deep crimson red with vibrant purple hues

Aroma

Intensely perfumed Shiraz with raspberry, licorice, black currant and hints of eucalypt spice. Some background toasty cedar notes derived from good quality French and American oak add to the brooding layers. The final wine is unique, yet offering lashings of rich, red, Barossa Shiraz style.

Palate

A seductive wine displaying balanced palate weight, length and structure. Ripe fruit characters are complemented by oak spice and velvety tannins. Lingering raspberry, licorice and hints of lavender demonstrate length on the palate. With its elegant structure, but powerful flavour, ensure great ageing potential and makes for perfect drinking while young.

Wine

The fruit is sourced from our single Hill Block vineyard at Rowland Flat in the Barossa Valley. This premium Shiraz is always the first block that ripens for the season as a result of;

• It’s aspect on the Hill which captures the sunlight
• The rocky soil which retains the warmth from the days sun

The wine is a standout – classic Barossa characters coupled with a unique licorice and black currant depth. Our best oak is used for this blend resulting in an extremely irresistible Shiraz.

Food matching

Rich indulgent food that warms the soul, such as Osso Bucco, Melanzane Ripiene and Bistecca alla Fiorentina.
