Lou Miranda Estate Old Vine Grenache 2018

Barossa Valley

Price: $45.00add to cart

Colour Deep dark red garnet hues.
Aroma Toasty vanilla notes intermingled with spicey developed fruit aromas of fruitcake/Christmas cake. Very complex, multi-layered and nuanced.
Palate A structured muscular wine. High tannin and oak is balanced by the intense fruit sweetness of concentrated Shiraz flavours typical from old vines. Generous dark fruit characters are complemented by spicy toasty flavours and ripe smooth tannins. The oak delivers persistence of flavour and length with a distinct vanilla/mocha flavour adding depth.
Wine Lou Miranda Estate Old Vine Shiraz is sourced from over 100 year old Barossa Valley Estate vines (classified: Centenarian Vines) from the Winery Church block. The vines were planted in 1907 which means that they celebrated their 106th birthday in 2013. The fruit is carefully selected and hand-picked, and the old vine Shiraz typifies the generous varietal characters of the Barossa of plums and clove. Only small open fermenters and gentle handling of the fruit are used to process the grapes to ensure quality from vine to bottle.
This is a highly concentrated red wine. Intense flavour is matched with tannin  and structure. Big and opulent, food matched perfectly with BBQ Rib eye or fillet steak.Cellaring With careful cellaring and patience 20+ years. We recommend decanting prior to serving

Cellaring

This is a vibrant fresh juicey style of Grenache. It’s a modern contemporary Barossa style focussing on the exuberant fruit flavours. Being medium weight with bright refreshing acidity this wine will pair with oiley rich dishes that are completely indulgent and delicious. Peking Duck, pork belly, grilled sardines or baked ham at Christmas.

Made from a tiny 0.14Ha vineyard planted in 1917. The fruit was handpicked on the 16th March 2018 and fermented in two small open top fermenters with 30% whole bunch inclusion. Hand plunged daily and fermented hot ( 28-35C) and fast. Fermentation was completed in 5 days and pressed to seasoned 15 year old oak where malolactic fermentation finished. Matured in oak for 5 months only.

Bright and fresh with medium weight and very fine textured tannins. The raspberry and cherry flavours skip across the palate with racy refreshing acidity on the palate.

Very pretty and perfumed on the nose. Musk, cherry, raspberry with floral lavender and anise notes. Slightest wisp of smokiness and spice.
